What our project was, is we had to make a form of art every friday or so. It could be anything you wanted and any medium you wanted to use. Then after you were done the piece you had to go on to blogger to make a little write up on your piece. Costa got me down the path of inspiration to blog by showing us the blogs and how they worked, and then then i started blogging. In class we looked at many things. There were many mediums we looked at, we looked at artwork of history. The inspiration never really gave me any ideas of what to do. The work was always my own and personal to me. I never had to make it personal. There was nothing i had to add, tweak, or take away. I was always creating just my own art. My first steps in creating any of my sketchbooks was to grab paper and my medium, and start thinking. Once i got a good idea i would then start the path in creating the idea. Once i would start creating the idea i would often have to change things to make the idea work for me. I would either restart completely depending on the medium or i would change a part of what i was about to do next on the piece to make it work better for me. The first steps in making my blog post would be to take a picture of my art work that i had just created. I would then start writing about it on the blog. My artwork could be exhibited in a Halloween shop or in a haunted house at Halloween. My art was very dark and creepy. I could also make my own exhibit to show it.

Artists Steal

It is perfectly fine to copy peoples artwork, if you give it your own spin. You cant fully copy everything about it. Most artists in time stole ideas from someone else. For example you could say the "mona lisa" was a stolen idea because someone painted a person in a frame before da vinci. You could say all art is stolen ideas, or that they are copied ideas. I like the word copied better than i like the word stolen. I think that copying ideas or "stealing" them is perfectly fine when it comes to art. I have stolen many ideas from artists and made them my own. You could never come up with anything
100% original.

This is a perfect example of a piece of artwork that was copied or "stolen".In My art class i have to take this concept of stealing a piece of art and i have to change it or copy it to make it my own. The art piece im choosing is " A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte ". What im going to do to this piece is im going to make the main girl with the umbrella the grim reaper and im going to make all the other people the restless souls stuck in purgatory.

This is my post for our visual poetry. This piece of art shows that the person wearing the mask is wearing it to try and fit in. When your wearing it people will say many nice things and like you, but when your wearing it to fit in you cant be yourself and cant speak your mind. You become blinded and have no voice. The real you becomes suppressed and after so long of being this way, you will find that you become wounded. I have put on the mask, and when i leave it on to long i find that i start to enjoy the fake me. Even though i enjoy it, the fake me is not nearly as great as the real me.

"Trapped"

The name of these pieces are "Trapped". I made them on February 26th. The medium i used was Charcoal. What is happening in these pictures is the man has been walking along a dark sad path, and over a length of time the man or person gets pulled into the darkness more. In the first pic he is walking along the path alone beside the darkness. In the second picture he is being pulled and pushed into the dark sad world even more. The last picture is just his hand left. At that point in the picture there is almost no hope for him. This is one of many pieces i will putting out. Come back for more!

Artist Statement of Thomas

I do the art that I do because I like it. I like making different art pieces for everybody to see. Most of the art I create represents me and my inner hidden self.  You will see that allot of the art I will do will be darker. It will be not just darker in colors but also will have dark themes. I make the decisions on what I create by first looking at if it feels right to me. I trust my gut instinct on if I should do something or not. Then I look at what the content is of the work I’m doing. I look for darker things in the content of the work. I select the materials and techniques I use by making sure they match the themes of what I’m doing. If I’m doing a dying flower I will use acrylic mixed with water. If I’m doing a dark angel I will use charcoal. All of my current work that I make is dark and mysterious and sometimes even confusing. I think I do the things I do in art from all of my life experiences as a kid. The nine squares I have on my blog is going to probably be some of the most normal colorful work I do, unless a project I am assigned says otherwise.
